Net GP Earnings

All GP practices are required to declare the mean net earnings (eg. Average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.  This is required in the interests of the greater public accountability recognising GP pay is ultimately funded from tax paid by the public.

The average pay for GPs working in Woodbury Surgery in the last financial year was £55,147  before tax and National Insurance.  This is for 2  full time GPs, 2 part time GPs and 5  locum GPs who worked in the practice for more than six months.

NHS England requires that the net earnings of doctors engaged in the practice is publicised, and the required disclosure is shown above. However it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earning is complex and takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice. It should not be used to form any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other practice.
