Let's Talk Sex

Contraception

Contraception can help to prevent unwanted pregnancy and some sexually transmitted infections (STIs). There are 12 types of contraception to choose from depending on you, your lifestyle and the type of sex you are having.

For more information see: https://www.devonsexualhealth.nhs.uk/contraception/

For free condoms, join the Devon C-Card scheme: https://www.devonsexualhealth.nhs.uk/contraception/condoms/c-card-scheme/

Emergency Contraception

Emergency contraception is used to prevent unwanted pregnancy when your usual method of contraception has failed. Some examples are:

  • You forgot to take your pill
  • The condom split
  • You weren’t able to use any type of contraception

You can get emergency contraception from any Devon Sexual Health Clinic, most pharmacies and your GP. It is important that you get it as soon as possible after the sexual intercourse.

There are two types and you can find more information here:
